Adding web analytics

Before you start writing and sharing your blog posts, you need to add tracking technology to your site.

This simply means that you add software to any links you share, and to web pages for you to track performance metrics. In the very simplest form, these could be:

  • How many people are clicking on your links
  • The sources that are helping people finding your content
  • How they navigate around your site and what they read
  • Where they are in the world
  • When they click on your links
  • The best performing articles

And so on.

The easiest way to get this information is by installing Google Analytics to your site.

Read the support sections of your chosen platform to understand how you can add analytics to your site.

Other metrics that you can use to track how your blog is performing could be by using Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Instagram Insights, Pinterest Analytics, and Tots100.

You’ll need to know your statistics when approaching brands to work with as part of your media kit.
