Before we go any further, please don’t freak out at words like ‘platform’.
You’ll hear words like platform and other jargon when reading about blogging, but put simply, this is just the place where your blog exists.
It is just a fancy word for the software that you use to publish your content onto the internet in the form of a blog site. It is the content management system that you use to upload, store and embed your images, write posts and set the design of your site.
There are plenty of options depending on how technically minded you are, both with free and premium options.
WordPress is a favourite platform for bloggers. It is cheap, reliable, relatively straightforward to use, and can be as customised or basic as you’d like.
With 2 types though, you need to make sure you pick the right one for you. The biggest difference is that wordpress.org allows you to host your own site whereas wordpress.com is always hosted by WordPress (better for starting out / little knowledge).
